Family Investment Strategy: Value Return and Impact (April 23-25, 2026)
21.05.2026

The HKUST Roger King Center for Asian Family Business and Family Office successfully hosted the latest module of its signature program, “HKUST Global Family Leader Succession Program: Family Investment Strategy: Value Return and Impact,” on April 23–25, 2026.

This gathering brought together a global cohort of multi-generational family members for a deep dive into the essence of family capital. Led by the Center’s Senior Advisor, Prof. Roger King, and Director, Prof. Winnie Peng, the program provided a purely practitioner-led environment where the dialogue remained strictly on the buy-side, focusing entirely on the authentic logic and generational perspectives of long-term family wealth management.

The curriculum was brought to life by a distinguished group of family investment masters and families, i.e., Mr. Oliver P. Weisberg (CEO of Blue Pool Capital) , Dr. Xinjun Liang (Co-founder of Fosun Group and Chairman of Xin Family Office) alongside other seasoned principals and CIOs, who provided direct, hands-on mentorship, sharing the sophisticated wisdom distilled from managing significant family assets. Over three days, families from diverse regions moved beyond theory to master the practicalities of aligning values with strategic investment, concluding a truly rewarding and enlightening journey together.

The program received overwhelmingly high ratings and positive feedback from participants:

A second-generation member of a Hong Kong family emphasized: “In this program, I deeply realized the vital importance of establishing a solid family investment logic. The curriculum not only helped me balance financial returns with social impact in our investment strategy but also delved into the microscopic details of practical execution. The small group discussions were particularly invaluable; exploring the pain points and challenges of family investing with members from diverse backgrounds created sparks of wisdom that I truly cherish. The professors’ and guest speakers’ deep expertise and their ability to simplify complex issues have led to a qualitative leap in my understanding of investment logic and strategy.”

The founder of a Chinese Mainland family business said, “As a former industrial entrepreneur, transitioning into the field of investment feels like starting a business from scratch all over again. This program provided more than just professional methodology; it guided me to reflect on the fact that, when facing complex asset management models, what we truly need is the ability to understand underlying assets and a relentless entrepreneurial spirit. Through multi-dimensional case studies and deep exchanges with like-minded peers, I discovered the ‘code’ to building a competitive moat in asset management. It is not just about managing wealth—it is about enhancing self-awareness in a dynamic market to achieve the dual transmission of family mission and social value.”

A second-generation member of a Colombia family said: “For me, this program has been a journey of profound cross-cultural inspiration. It not only allowed me to deeply appreciate the family investment landscape in Asia and across the globe but also provided a clear roadmap for my future succession and asset allocation through a deep deconstruction of the balance between returns and impact. I was pleasantly surprised that the program offered both systematic practical experience and a high-quality international networking platform. Meeting so many like-minded global peers with similar backgrounds has significantly expanded my international network. This program is undoubtedly an excellent bridge connecting family investment and succession wisdom across different cultural backgrounds.”

Stay tuned for the Center’s upcoming programs!
