Stephen King is a Managing Partner of Violet Hill Partners Limited, a multi-strat hedge fund based in Hong Kong and Managing Partner of Monarch Partners, a single-family family office.  In these capacities, Mr. King pursues investments in the public equity, private equity, SPAC and real estate markets.

Mr King is an active participant in the SPAC market, investing in securities across the lifecycle of a SPAC.  He is the seed investor in Carnegie Hill Capital, a SPAC advisor that invests in sponsor “at-risk” capital.  Through Violet Hill Partners, Mr King also invests in SPAC public equity, warrants and PIPEs.

Before establishing Violet Hill Partners in 2010, Mr. King was a Partner and member of the Investment Committee at Unitas Capital (formerly known as J.P. Morgan Partners Asia), a leading private equity investor and financial sponsor in the Asia-Pacific region with US$3.9 billion under management.  While at Unitas, Mr. King served as Chairman of two companies, each with excess of US$1 billion in revenues.  He also served on the boards of seven other portfolio companies.

Mr. King was previously an investment banker with J.P. Morgan & Co. and with Merrill Lynch & Co.  Mr. King graduated cum laude from Harvard University with an AB in Economics.  Mr. King is also a cum laude graduate of Phillips Academy and of Eton College in the UK.

Mr. King is a delegate to the CPPCC of Zhejiang Province and the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Latvia in Hong Kong.  He also serves as a Governor on the Board of Governors of the Chinese International School, is a member of the China Fund and the Asia Pacific Committee of Harvard University and a member of the Asia Council for Phillips Academy.

Mr. King is an accomplished fine art photographer whose works are held in numerous private and corporate collections around the world.  He is a board member of the Asia Art Archive.
