Belinda Tanoto is Managing Director of RGE, a group of world-class companies in resource-based manufacturing industries operating in Indonesia, China, Brazil and Canada, with over US$30 billion in assets and a workforce of over 60,000 people. She oversees the group’s fibre, palm oil and energy operations and projects in China. She leads the group’s growth as the world’s largest viscose fibre producer, as well as its expansion in the LNG and power sector supporting China’s transition to clean and renewable energy adoption.
RGE’s businesses in China include Asia Symbol (pulp and paper), Sateri (viscose fiber) and Pacific Energy (LNG receiving terminals and gas-fired CCGT power plants). RGE’s businesses in China have thus far created employment for more than 10,000 people.
Belinda is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Tanoto Foundation, where she contributes to the Foundation’s philanthropic strategy and programmes in Indonesia, China and Singapore. Since 2009, she has remained actively involved in the Foundation’s key programmes in enhancing learning environments from early childhood education and development to basic education; developing future leaders through experiential learning and scholarships; and medical philanthropy and healthcare advocacy to improve the health span of communities.
Recognised for her work in human capital development, Belinda was featured in Forbes Asia’s 2019 Heroes of Philanthropy, and continues to publicly advocate issues concerning education, poverty, human capital development and sustainable development. In 2023, Belinda was also named the first Indonesian member of the UNICEF International Council.
Belinda received her bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude in Finance and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
