The Japan Society of Hong Kong and Roger King Center for Asian Family Business and Family Office co-organized the Academic Forum on JAPANESE SHINISE: Tradition, Modernization and Challenge on October 16.

The forum started with 4 keynote speeches by Prof. Toshio GOTO, Prof. Xinchun LI, Mr. Rikifusa SATAKE (10th generation Chairman of Minokichi), and Mr. Kotaro NISHIBORI (5th generation President of Hiyoshiya), sharing their research and management experience of Japanese long-lived family businesses. Followed by a lively panel discussion, chaired by our Center Director, Prof. Winnie Qian PENG, about the challenges and opportunities facing Japanese Shinise in today's rapidly changing business landscape. Our Center Senior Advisor, Prof. Roger King made the closing remark. The forum was well attended by over 130 participants and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

We extend our gratitude to the Japan Society of Hong Kong especially Dr. Shigemi Furuta for their great effort in making this event a success. Our Center is looking forward to future opportunities to collaborate with industry partners on topics related to family business and family office.
