The Tanoto Foundation has pledged a donation to The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The donation will be earmarked for the Center for Asian Family Business and Entrepreneurship Studies in the School of Business and Management. The Center is named after the Donor as "Tanoto Center for Asian Family Business and Entrepreneurship Studies" for a period of five years from July 2012 to June 2017. Founded in 2001 by Sukanto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto, the Tanoto Foundation focuses on solutions to intergenerational poverty through provision of education opportunities to the coming generation, reinforcing family and societal values through livelihood improvement and empowerment programs for parents, and establishing enabling platforms such as access to clean water and good sanitation.
